Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) is of two years of certificate level course offered by various prominent institutions in India. The course makes aspirants familiar with the ways through which they can take care of the health related problems of sick, injured, recovering mothers, new-born mentally challenged and old people. The course also provide knowledge regarding setting up the equipments of an operation theater, providing medication, maintaining health records of patients and other routine jobs. The selection is done on the basis of merit in qualifying examination. After an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) certificate, one can always opt for higher studies or can consider pursuing career in related field.
ANM-related work includes maternal and child health along with family planning services, health and nutrition education, efforts for maintaining environmental sanitation, immunisation for the control of communicable diseases, treatment of minor injuries, and first aid in emergencies and disasters.
